Suffering tooth loss is a big deal. Even losing a single tooth can cause many complications. However, if the tooth is lost at the back of the mouth, out of sight, many people think that it is not a big deal and therefore does not need to be replaced. How is a Bridge Placed?
It takes two appointments to place a bridge. During the first appointment, we first prepare the abutment teeth. This is exactly like preparing teeth for crowns. Done under a local anesthetic, we remove a portion of the enamel from the abutment teeth to make them smaller. This ensures that the crowns, and your bridge, will fit perfectly and naturally in with the rest of your teeth. An impression of your mouth is taken and sent to our dental lab, where it is used to design and create your custom restoration. At your second appointment, we check the bridge for fit, bite, and the appearance and secure it into place on the abutment teeth.
A bridge provides you with an effective way to replace a missing tooth. It can restore the functions of your mouth, improve your oral health, and help to restore or protect, the quality of your smile.
